about

the actress cynthia nixon recently caused a stir by saying that she had chosen her sexuality rather than having been 'born this way' and that we should not define our sexualities based upon what is said by right wing christians. This echoed ideas prevalent in feminism in the 1980s where women choose to be Lesbians for political reasons and this is part of our history however the reaction towards what she said was dramatic and incredibly intolerant.

she was correct in what she said: a number of people have chosen their sexuality and we do not have to define how we understand our own sexuality based upon what will wrong-foot those who hate us.

we are not without agency and we should not strip ourselves of agency. this track is in opposition to orthodoxy's of all kinds.
